On Friday 14 April the Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences (FMG) invited us to UvA Roeterseiland for the RPA-PMH’s first ever FMG Live Event.

Egija Zaura, director of the RPA, started off the afternoon with an introductory presentation about the RPA-PMH and METAHEALTH. Eileen Moyer from the faculty of Social and Behavioral Science, Anthropology Department, followed Egija and presented on the anthropology of microbres. Eileen was invited by RPA-PMH PI’s Christian Broër en Gerlieke Veltkamp from the Sociology Department of the Faculty of Behavioral Sciences.

Christian, Gerlieke en Monique van der Veen, also one of the RPA-PMH’s PI’s, concluded the presentations of the afternoon with an introduction on the Sarphati Ethnography Cohort, that is part of the METAHEALTH project.

The second half of the afternoon consisted of a workshop in which the participants were split into groups to brainstorm about the topic “Health and Microbes”.

A lot of interesting ideas were shared and interdisciplinary connections were made. but this afternoon was just the beginning.

We want to thank the Christian and Gerlieke for organizing this first live event and the participants for their enthusiasm. We hope to see you all during a next event!
