On a very warm and sunny Friday 9 June we invited Machiel Keestra (UvA) to the IAS building. Machiel Keestra is assistant professor with tenure at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Amsterdam.
The RPA-PMH’s directorate board had previously followed a workshop by Machiel on Interdisciplinarity in 2022, a topic that is very important within the RPA-PMH. Our community consists of many different faculties, which can lead to challenges in working together. It is, however, also our biggest strength. Finding collaboration and new opportunities within different ways of working and doing research. An example of this is the FMG Live Event, that was hosted at UvA Roeterseiland on Friday 16 April 2023.
Since the workshop was received very well within the directorate board in 2022, we decided to invite Machiel back for another workshop, but this time our entire community could join. Previous to the workshop Machiel sent out a survey with questions designed specifically for the RPA-PMH community and made his slides and workshop fit for our situation.
Many of our peers showed up and participated actively. It was a productive afternoon, that ended with an informal borrel and some more sharing of ideas.
We would like to thank Machiel for leading the workshop and for taking the time to get know our community before doing so!
Machiel Keestra has written two books on Interdisciplinarity. You can find them here.
